Our Story
It all started with two coffee-producer brothers, Assefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, from the Bensa Sidama area — who, in 1996, formalised a heritage they were raised in as Daye Bensa Coffee.
They were determined to carry their own coffee all the way from the cherry to the export container — without losing the traceability that makes Sidama special. Over the years they grew from the family's own farms into a network of washing stations, single-estate farms and dry mills across seven clusters, working hand in hand with thousands of neighbouring smallholders.
Today Daye Bensa is one of the major coffee exporting companies in Ethiopia, shipping green coffee directly from its own farms and the farms of affiliated farmers — across every grade from commercial to competition-level specialty, with nearly three decades in the trade. Three decades on, the vision remains the same: every lot we export can be traced back to the land and the people who grew it.
