Rama Farm Daye Bensa

Background

Rama Farm rests in the highlands of Arebegona, a landscape shaped by generations of mixed farming, livestock rearing, and shared community life. Coffee has been cultivated here for more than 20 years, rooted in land that once formed part of a fertile forest and gradually evolved into a balanced agricultural system where crops, trees, and animals coexist.

Coffee Variety, Climate, Altitude

Rama Farm spans elevations between 2,200 and 2,300 meters above sea level, where cool highland temperatures, abundant rainfall, and fertile soils create ideal conditions for specialty coffee. The farm cultivates the 74158 variety, prized for its vibrant acidity, structure, and refined cup profile. These high-altitude conditions support slow cherry maturation, contributing to clarity and complexity in the cup.

Landscape and Nature

Rivers such as Logita—meaning “large water”—flow through the area, sustaining both the land and its people. Native trees like Masincho, known locally as the “fertility tree,” stand as symbols of giving, growth, and abundance. The village name Rama, meaning “cattle’s food,” reflects the area’s long-standing connection to livestock, including cattle, goats, and hens, reinforcing the deep relationship between land, livelihood, and nourishment.
