QunQana

Background

Qunqana is one of the earliest established coffee stations in the Bensa Woreda, founded in 2001 in the Shanta Golba area. Situated at an altitude of 1800 to 2000 meters above sea level, the station sources coffee from nearby areas including Osole, Huluka, Oda, and Huro Tibiro. It is named after the nearby Konka'na River—“Konka'na” meaning “cockroach” in the Sidamic language. The name comes from the unique way the river flows, resembling the movement of a cockroach. With the support of 305 dedicated coffee suppliers and farmers, Qunqana continues to play a significant role in the region’s coffee heritage.
