Horaela Station
Background
Horaela Station is located in a mountainous area in Sidama, Eastern Zone, Chire Woreda, at an elevation ranging from above 1,800 to 2,100 masl. The name “Horaela” comes from a local area known for its natural mineral water source, respected by the community for its refreshing and life-sustaining qualities. The station collects coffee from surrounding kebeles including Horaela, Chire, Abaye Taka, Burqayesa, and Qalo, with contributions from around 650 dedicated farming households. Equipped with both traditional processing systems and modern Penagos technology, Horaela Station is known for producing clean, well-processed washed coffees and occasional specialty lots. The highland environment, skilled farmers, and modern equipment make it an excellent location for crafting quality Sidama coffee.

– Red cherries are pulped on the same day to remove the outer skin
