Hafursa Werab

Background

Hafursa Werab Station, located at an altitude of 1,900 to 2,100 meters, is found in within the area known as Weyne Dega. The name "Hafursa Werab" comes from a respected man who once lived in the area and gave the place its name. This station sources its coffee from nearby kebeles including Hafursa Werab, Haaru, Suke, Rust, Qedda, Gerse, and Eddo, and works with around 231 dedicated local farmers. Known for producing high-quality washed and specialty coffee, the station is equipped with 12 washing tanks and 156 drying beds to ensure careful processing.​

Processing Method ​​

  • Washed Process - Red cherries are pulped on the same day to remove the outer skin

- Fermented for 72 hours to break down and remove mucilage

- Thorough washing after fermentation to ensure all mucilage is removed

- Drying takes 12–15 days depending on weather conditions
