Darara Farm Daye Bensa
Background
Darara Farm sits in the highlands of Hamasho, a land whose name means “snake” in Sidamigna—a nod to its past as a forested area once home to many snakes. Over the past 20 years, local farmers have gradually transformed this wild highland into fertile farmland, nurturing coffee alongside crops and livestock while preserving the land’s natural rhythms and biodiversity. Today, Darara Farm is a small yet high-performing organic coffee site where careful cultivation meets the legacy of generations.
Coffee Variety, Climate, Altitude
Spanning 0.88 hectares at elevations of 2,200–2,300 meters above sea level, Darara Farm benefits from cool highland temperatures, sunny days, and rolling slopes that create excellent airflow. These conditions, together with nutrient-rich soils, make the farm ideal for cultivating the 74156 coffee variety, known for its clarity, bright acidity, and high quality.
Landscape and Nature
Darara Farm is a poetic name that honors Hamasho’s history while grounding the farm in the meaning of its land. Established in 2019, this farm was once dense forest and now thrives as a flourishing specialty coffee plot. The site reflects the journey from wilderness to cultivated excellence, producing high-performing, organically grown coffee.
