Bona Kike

Background

Bona Kike is one of our stations named after the nearby kebele, Bona Kike. The name "Bona" honors the founder of the wereda, while "Kike" originates from the Sidamic word "Kikicho," meaning valley or low place. Historically, the area was known as "Chiriko" until 1975 when it was renamed Kike following the arrival of the Bona Kike Ark (Kike Mariam). The kebele itself was established in 1911, and the coffee station was founded in 2002. Situated at an altitude of 2100 to 2300 meters above sea level, Bona Kike offers an ideal environment for producing high-quality coffee, deeply rooted in the region’s rich history and cultural heritage.
