Bishan Guracha 

Background

Bishan Guracha Station, located at an altitude of 2050 meters, is situated in the Oromia region's West Arsi Zone, specifically in the town of Worka (Nensebo). The name "Bishan Guracha" originates from a large river in the area, with "Bishan Guracha" meaning “black water” in the local language. This station sources its coffee from the nearby Roricho and Bohira kebeles, working closely with around 250 dedicated coffee supplier farmers.

Processing Method 

  • Natural Process - Cherries are dried on beds without excessive thickness.

- Drying takes 16–20 days.

- Moisture content is monitored (target: 10–10.5%), then stored in the warehouse.

  • Washed Process - Red cherries are pulped on the same day to remove the outer skin

- Fermented for 72 hours to break down and remove mucilage

- Thorough washing after fermentation to ensure all mucilage is removed

- Drying takes 12–15 days depending on weather conditions
